Why mentor?

I have been fortunate to have had many legendary mentors in my medical career. I have always strongly felt that this is an integral part of being a physician and I spent my whole career teaching and mentoring physician trainees. Most recently though, I really wanted to help medical students and premeds as I think we need more role models to guide the next generation of future physicians for our community. Lastly, I have been inspired by the quote..."The True meaning of life is to plant trees whose shade you do not expect to sit"- meaning my efforts to help you all be great doctors will help people whom I will never meet.
